Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
St. Maarten – Octavio Ogando Garcia, who was a candidate on the list of the Democratic Party in the August 29 elections, bought cocaine from a suspect in a cocaine-trial on two different occasions. Yesterday Garcia appeared in the Court in First Instance as a witness at the request of attorney Brenda Brooks who defends Julissa M.-B. in a cocaine-smuggling trial.
Phone taps in this investigation caught Garcia saying “that he’d be shopping at Mrs. M.â€
Answering questions from the attorney, Garcia admitted “that he had bought twice something from Mrs. M.†and that what he had bought was cocaine.
Garcia was a candidate for the United People’s party in the 2010 elections when he won 80 votes. In the August 29 elections he was a candidate for the Democratic Party. As the number 16 on the list, he won 29 votes.
Garcia is not a suspect in the trial against six different suspects. The court moved the trial date for five of the suspects to November 27 and for the sixth one to November 28.
